| Overview: Construction Chemical is used in construction projects to enhance the overall durability, quality of the project and strengthen the structures. In the last decade, the overall construction and infrastructure sector at large has witnessed a paradigm shift in the nature of projects, scope & time constraints to complete work and architectural innovations that hasredefined the conventional ideas. Green philosophy, sustainability and eco-friendly features dominate the building design element and hence today, a variety of construction chemicals are being used in most largescale construction projects aswell as projects of special design and engineering, depending on their specific needs. Construction chemicals are essential for high quality concrete and for enhancing concrete performance & durability. There is an increasing demand for specialized product offerings such as: Concrete - PCE admixtures, fill-free technology, Rheology, Delta Range, Specialty Cement Additives – Grinding Aids, Activators, VRM Range, Construction System - Polymer based Grouts & Mortars, Surface Treatments, high-end waterproofing, Floor Toppings, Coatings, Sealer, Floor Hardening, expansion & construction joint treatments, to name a few. The new and developed chemical systems can be used across various construction segments and hence it has significant demand across infrastructure, high-rise buildings and industrial & power projects. In addition, construction chemicals also cover the renovation and repair sector, a significant of such large-scale projects. In fact, renovation and repair make up a substantial volume of construction chemical sales in India. More than 80% of contractors and builders are still not aware of the benefits of modern construction methods utilizing construction chemicals or have a limited knowledge on their correct application. The construction industries biggest challenges are: 1) Awareness regarding the benefits of construction chemicals 2) Adequate knowledge on proper usage of these chemicals 3) Green Building and Sustainability 4) Supplementary Additives in Cement Manufacturing and CO2 emission 5) Lack of enforcement of quality standards on construction activities However, the industry is quicklyevolving and adaptingtomodern usage of construction chemicals. Constructions especially in metro cities are using mechanised Concrete to achieve faster, more consistent production with superior performance. New innovations in construction chemicals act as a catalyst for eco-friendly construction generating a new market trend.
